Hi Everyone,
I've been stuck on 3mbps for years in Salmon Arm. Luckily Telus has been upgrading our entire town with fiber the last few months. According to Telus I now qualify for 50mbps, yay!
I called customer support and asked if I could be upgraded to 6mbps (since it's in the same package I currently have - no addition cost). I was told they couldn't upgrade me until a fiber line was run from the street to my house. I said I was only looking for 6mbps, and not 50mbps, but the answer remained the same.
Does this sound accurate? I would have thought they would have upgraded our neighbourhood "Telus boxes" (dslam?) with new fiber too, so the old copper lines would be able to get a little bit more speed.
Any thoughts? A whole new fiber line seems like a lot of trouble just to get 6mbps.
Thanks.
