A bunch of this might be best answered by a telus rep but I'd like to hear what the community says anyway.
Background:
I live in an in-fill condo in Edmonton Oliver area. It was build before fibre installs but it is wired with Coax and cat5e from the boiler room. Also, from the pole in the back alley it's all modern conduit.
Q1: Why has Telus intentionally avoided fibre roll out to one of the most densely populated areas of the city? Also everything is on polls here. Are they so afraid of dealing with high population areas? Last I checked they had deployments about 2 blocks away North of 104 Ave.
Q2: Networking units in my condo is trivial. I have research to do here but setting up Vlans and a QoS of somekind on a decent switch is probably all that really needs to happen. How does Telus feel about "reselling" their connection? I think we'd set it up as part of condo fees, and it is "free" to owners, managed by the condo corporation but all of it would be Telus.
Q3: Who would I have to talk to at Telus to inquire about getting fibre to the building for a system like this? Do they have a department specializing in this?
