[AB] Telus IGMP settings changed?

After working perfectly for the past 1 1/2 years (with 8 months of uptime until today) my TTV multicast inexplicably stopped working sometime in the last 36 hours. Anyone else with port1 bridge and their own router had any difficulties recently? Everything works fine plugged directly into the T3200 so my next task (after more coffee) is digging out a switch that supports port mirroring and grabbing a wireshark capture to see if there's anything obvious. Basic info incase anyone is interested: T3200>EdgerouterX>Separate TV VLAN on switch>STB Firewall rules and IGMP proxy in place for 10.0.0.0/8 and 207.0.0.0/8 (some posts mentioned 209.0.0.0/8, which I added, but no difference).

Are these modem line stats "normal"?

The connection is 75 Mbps bonded. I'm wondering specifically about the following: Retrains Loss of Signal Link Failure Unavailable Seconds Near End CRC Errors Near End RS FEC I had Telus at my home to investigate some issues on one of the lines, specifically, a bunch of intermittent (bursty) CRC errors on line 2. After Telus left, there were no retrains and no CRC errors for a few days, then a "burst" of two retrains with accompanying CRC errors. Those counters have been steady. The FEC errors have been creeping up steadily. They seem to be independent of the retrains and CRC errors. My home is quite far from the DSLAM. I guess there is a speed that's not useful anymore, and that's the limit. It seems like even Steam can't quite push the full connection consistently. (75MB/s) I can't even get a speedtest to hit anything over 700 or so, except Fast.com and downloading torrents will do it. Plus no unlimited, and the extra expense. I'm going back to 300/300. [AB] Bonded Internet 75 - line not 100% stable

So I upgraded from bonded 50 to bonded 75 (it was a free upgrade price wise) and ever since i did that i've had some major issues with my connection all of a sudden dropping or slowing to a crawl. Some details: - I had no issues at all when I had the 50 profile - I have a T3200 modem and the TELUS boosters (been having issues logging into the My WIFI app to setup the boosters, separate problem and it's not my creds) - The problem happens with both WIFI and hard wired connections - Called TELUS, the tech I spoke to pretty much was no help (no fault of his, first line of defense i guess). He did the usual stuff, reset this and adjusted that. - I have tried obviously doing a hard reset of the modem. But that is the extent of my troubleshooting. Difficult to troubleshoot since it's a sporadic problem. - One thing I was going to try was revert to a single DSL line and see if the issue persists. But have not tried that yet. - I know the technician who did the upgrade had to switch me to another port. Didn't ask why but I know he did. Can anyone help me out, I would really appreciate it. It's so hard to wait 60+ minutes for a tech on the phone. I am fairly tech savy and shouldn't have any issues following some troubleshooting guidelines... Thanks, Abdul

Telus PureFibre and SonicWall Routers

Hi All, I've been assisting someone that signed up for Telus PureFibre yesterday. They have a business account and a static IP. When it was setup, it worked while the Telus technician was onsite, and for about 25 minutes thereafter, until their connection stopped responding. We discovered that disconnecting and re-connecting the WAN cable from the SonicWall would make the connection work. If left unattended, the connection would work for about 20 - 40 minutes, then stop for about 3 hours, and start working for another 20 - 40 minutes. Previously, on Telus copper, they used this SonicWall without a glitch. Their configuration is: Telus PureFibre > Alcatel-Lucent Modem > Sonicwall TZ 105 Firewall Doing some research, I came across some similar issues, but unable to find the resolution: https://forum.telus.com/t5/Internet-TV-Home-Phone/Optik-Fibre-Internet-w-3rd-Party-Firewall-non-telus/td-p/59109 (one more link I'm digging up...) I found this SonicWall article that SEEMS to cover this issue: https://www.sonicwall.com/en-us/support/knowledge-base/170505449739964 However, in my case, when running the packet capture, the source IP for the ARPs showed as 0.0.0.0 Is anyone aware of what settings can be used to make the SonicWall compatible with Telus network?

WCB3000N: MOCA setting was locked by default, on option to enable

WCB3000N works well with T3200M modem/router, but less security without moca privacy password. Unfortunately, only T3200M could set moca privacy password, moca setting in WCB3000N seems locked by the manufacturer with firmware: v0.16.8.5. If so, my neighbor could use another WCB3000N to connect T3200M in my home?

I've been away on for a while.. getting back, notice my internet seems slower. Last november or so, I got +100MB via bounded vdsl.. wound up getting a T2200M... worked great. From post last year - I was getting this on the modem.. Traffic Type: PTM Aggregate Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 35838 Aggregate Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 131262 Now, I'm getting Traffic Type: PTM Aggregate Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 22656 Aggregate Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 88058 Seems like they chopped like 40 MB off? Also my bill went from -- TELUS Internet 75 to 100 (included data:1024GB) $85.00 to TELUS Internet 75 (included data:550GB) $80.00 So they cut me off by 40 MB lowered the bill by $5? Any idea? Sean

How to contact Telus?

I'm a past Telus internet/TV customer, but on Shaw cable for the last 2 years due to the lack of high-speed fibre service from Telus in my neighbourhood. Telus is finally installing fibre on my street, but it doesn't look like they'll be ready by the end of the month when my current Shaw deal runs out and I have to make a renewal decision. I've asked Telus a couple of times in the last 2 years to tell me when fibre service is available, but they haven't contacted me, except for the guy that came to the door to get permission for them to string fibre to the house when they get around to it. I thought I would just call Telus and ask if there's some way I can find out what package pricing they will offer with fibre, and whether I could set up a transition deal in advance if that service won't be here for a few months. But it appears to be impossible to contact Telus about this. The phone number for Internet Service goes down a rathole of a voice response system that will only tell me "Ok, you want phone features. The wait to talk to an agent is currently over 1 hr.....". I tried Chat, but the only topics it offers are Technical Support for phone/internet/TV or billing enquiries. Any suggestions? So far this isn't impressing me much with Telus...

Fibre in suite then copper for all services ?

I currently have Optik TV, Internet 50 and home phone with Telus. My internet was upgraded one year ago to 50 bonded, the fastest available in my building, to "fix" the problem of TV channels suddenly not available. If anything the problem is now worse with channels suddenly stopping for minutes almost every day. This is intermittent. Recently a tech came to check and ran some diagnostics and said every looks fine. He suggested the only way to fix the issue is to switch to fibre. I have fibre into my suite but because of the layout the installation will include drilling holes and running the fibre along the ceiling which I am not excited about. He suggested he could use the fibre connection and then the existing copper within my suite. Is this standard and would it likely solve my problem? Also the existing modem and PVR are close to my computer with the TV using a WiFi box12 feet away and so there will still not be a direct connection. I am just wondering what if any my options are?

[BC] Business Fibre Internet, does telus still block http, https ports

Does anyone know if these plans allow for incoming port 80 and 443 traffic ? https://www.telus.com/en/bc/business/internet/office-internet/find-your-plan The wording "managed" in the description leads me to think they do, but don't really know. $ 105 / mo for symmetrical 300/300 is tempting. :p

[AB] What to consider in move from Shaw to Telus Fiber

I have been using Shaw for years, and am currently on 300/20 and reasonably satisfied. Shaw Contacted me to sign a new contract for 2 years at a deal (65$ x 24) but given that Telus pure Fiber (300/300) is just now available in my area, I would much prefer that. I understand the advantages of the extra upload and lower jitter/gateway ping times. My Question is are there any other items to consider, any "gotchas." I run a pfSense router and want that to continue. I have 2 dynamic IP addresses but could make do with a single. I do not use IP television at this point, nor do I expect to at any point soon. I do run a Plex server at home, and access home via OpenVPN client to a dynamically updated DNS name that I own. My Shaw modem is of course bridged with wifi disabled, as my wife is all Ubiquiti APs and want that to continue. usage is 4K Netflix, media downloads, some gaming, shared Plex usage, some remote VPN. ignoring cost/upload performance/ping times, what should be considered when moving from Shaw 3/20 to Telus pureFiber 300/300?

[Mobility] migrated to prepaid $3 plan, not on Mobility pages

Telus migrated all pay-as-you-go to a $3/month plan Oct 1. There is no info on the prepaid page, so I assume new customers cannot get it. https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/prepaid/plans/ I used to get $0.15/min with my Data 10 add-on, but I no longer see that. The $3 plan description at mobilesyrup says 5 mins and $0.60 extra min. Anyone know which it is?

SO I live in a Coop in Richmond and heard a rumor from a telus tech Telus is delaying Fiber role outs to MDU as they havent been able to get a return on investment unless tenants sign up for at least Internet 25 which means My dreams of getting Gigabit speeds are over :(

It's baaaaaaaaaccck. 100+

said by uid://1878461 :Effective immediately Internet 100 can be sold to customers... Bear in mind that you would have to qualify for about 50mbps+ per line, (I think 58? Not exactly sure.) not everyone that qualifies for 75 will qualify for 100.

[BC] Anyone had problems with the T3200M?

I got my fibre service hooked up yesterday but the internet has been very fast but intermittent. Wireless will work for a while but then it will just randomly crap out. When I go to my desktop internet doesn't work there either. I found disabling ipv6 makes it last longer but it will still eventually crap out. The lights (internet & wifi) stay on/lit during this whole time. Resetting the T3200M makes it come back and it'll be OK for a while. I've read about the firmware update requiring a factory reset, so I've done that thinking the firmware probably updated. However, it worked about 1.5 hours and just a few minutes ago I had to reset it again. The firmware shown is 31.164L.08, is that the most current? Anyone else have tips before I call in to Telus?

[AB] Mandatory Paperless billing? Your joking right?

I just received a notice that paper bills are now being discontinued!! Fist, the CRTC passed legislation stating that they could not charge for paper bills, and now the holes are just up and saying they are not going to send bills at all!? What gives? Why is these days always about about what the company wants and not the customer? What, the CEO needs a new yacht and is cutting corners? No wonder they stopped the future is friendly campaign. It was all a lie. And to add insult to injury, there was a complaint on them and others back earlier in the year, and they are just letting me know now!! Im sure this was a calculated action so people would not bring attention to the case. Bunch of rats. https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2018/lt180822.htm

fibre cost

I live in down-town Vancouver in a high rise and was told there is fiber available in my area. Some people keep saying that it has been a problem in some areas for Telus to get fiber to tenants in buildings because the building's management/strata does not agree to fiber upgrade. What people aren't saying is that it costs anywhere from fifteen hundred dollars and up per suite for the upgrade, that can cost a building hundreds of thousands of dollars. So that is one big reason why there is a problem for many people to get fiber. I was told this by Telus.

Well I tried the Gigabit. Not really worth it.
