I am looking to move to a new property about 7 minutes away from my current location, and the online telus check system says only internet 15 is available.
In the past i would often battle and get higher tier support and find out better plans are available in my area then what the online tool said.
However I dont know if thats still the case? Are any telus employees on here able to double check for me? I cant go to internet 15 but I dont want to switch, i love telus tv and internet. I can post or pm the address if needed.

[BC] BC new area code May 4 2019
https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/mobility-service-updates
New area code 672 in BC
Applicable to Mobility and Home Services customers
Posted May 23, 2018
As demand for telecommunications services in BC continues to grow, a new area code will be added to ensure adequate availability of telephone numbers. The geographic region currently covered by area codes 604/250/778/236 will see the addition of a fifth area code on May 4, 2019.
Note:
The new area code will be 672, and will only be assigned to new telephone numbers
Anyone who already has a number with area code 604/250/778/236 will keep the same number
The geographic boundaries that govern long distance will not change
Special numbers like 9-1-1 will still be dialed using 3 digits
For your local calls, you will continue to dial 10 digits (area code + local number)
Frequently asked questions:
What is the new area code in the 604/250/778/236 area?
The 672 area code will be introduced gradually in the BC region now served by 604/250/778/236 with an overlay method.
When will the new area code be introduced?
The new area code will be introduced on May 4, 2019.
Will current phone numbers change?
No. Your current phone number will not change.
Will local calling areas remain the same?
Yes. Introducing a new area code does not affect local calling areas in any way.
Will all new numbers after May 4, 2019 have the new area code?
No. Numbers will continue to be assigned with the area codes 604/250/778/236 as long as they are available in your local area.
When will it be possible for businesses to reserve new numbers in area code 672?
The Canadian Numbering Administrator (CNA) will assign blocks of new numbers to telecommunications carriers only when all numbers in the existing area code have run out. For more details, companies should contact their telecommunications provider.
Who is responsible for the introduction of new area codes in Canada?
These measures are the result of decisions by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Local telecommunications companies are responsible for implementing the changes.
What is the "overlay method"?
The overlay method simply involves adding a new code to the geographic region served by existing area codes.
Is it common to introduce new area codes to ensure there is no shortage of available telephone numbers?
Yes. Most regions in Canada require multiple area codes to accommodate demand for telephone numbers. Just as BC has 4 area codes today, adding a fifth area code will provide a substantial increase in available telephone numbers.
Should Business Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) systems be programmed with the new area code?
Depending on the CPE used, programming may be to accommodate incoming and outgoing calls accordingly prior to the new area code start date. This will ensure that you are able to make and receive calls without any interruption.
If your CPE system is fully managed by TELUS, we will be proactively working on this programming change and there is no additional charge. If you would like to open a billable MAC order to get TELUS to perform the programming changes for you, please contact us at:

IPV6 on small business internet 50
Hello,
Before I go through the exercise of calling Teuls to find out why I can not get ipv6 going I figured I would ask here first. I have a suspicion that maybe Telus has not enable it on this type of account with static ip's?
My install is very basic, internet in to switch, out to server and out to R7000 router that serves my LAN.
If in fact it is offered does anyone know what settings I would use for ipv6?

Losing IPv6 connectivity after 10 minutes
Telus Pure Fiber 250
Asus RT-AC66U_B1 using the latest offical firmware
Hey everyone, I'm having a strange issue. Ever since around the latest Windows 10 (Redstone 4?) update I have been losing IPv6 about 10 minutes after Windows 10 boots up. This is happening on both my Windows 10 machines and both have the latest updates. After losing ipv6, I did a ipconfig /all and it still showed that i had ipv6 addresses / dns / etc. I was able to still ping my ipv6 address, but was NOT able to ping my ipv6 DNS address. I did a ipconfig /renew6 and immediately i got back ipv6 connection and was able to ping my DNSv6 IP again. However, after restarting the system I would lose it again after about 10 minutes.
I have tried re-installing the latest intel network drivers, resetting winsock and tcpip and nothing worked.
However, I went into my router and changed my IPv6 from Stateless to Stateful and everything is working 100% now.
Any idea why I lose connection to IPv6 with Stateless and not Stateful?
Which is better, Stateless or Stateful?
Are there downsides to using either of them?
Also while I am here ...
Doing the test on http://ipv6-test.com is shows ICMP as filtered under the IPv6 connectivity section. It also follows it with a warning "Your router or firewall is filtering ICMPv6 messages sent to your computer. An IPv6 host that cannot receive ICMP messages may encounter problems like some web pages loading partially or not at all."
Now (by default) my router does not filter these requests, but windows 10 firewall does. When I allowed the rule on the Win10 Firewall it passes 20/20 on the tests. Is it safe or recomended that I allow this rule on the firewall? My router felt is was safe to default allow those requests but windows didn't. Does filtering really hamper anything?
Any help would be greatly appricated!

Appears Abbotsford is on the new billing system now
Should be elegible for 250/950 if you want I suppose. I'm running into an error on my end seeing the options for upgrade, but my bill just came in with partial cancellation adjustments, and a new(lower) price for the 250 and unlimited appears to be free now.
Edit: I can't order because the system thinks I'm only eligible for DSL speeds....

In partnership with the Government of Canada, TELUS Internet for Good is now available to more families through the national Connecting Families initiative
Toronto, ON – TELUS is expanding the reach of its Internet for Good program by participating in the Federal Government’s new Connecting Families initiative, announced earlier today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. Major Canadian ISPs have committed to participate in the Connecting Families initiative, which is entirely funded by the service providers and comes at no cost to the Federal Government or taxpayers.
TELUS has a long-standing commitment to bridging the digital divide and helping at-risk Canadians achieve social and digital equality. In 2016, TELUS launched Internet for Good in British Columbia and Alberta in collaboration with provincial governments and not-for-profit partners -- ensuring that Canadians in need are #allconnected to the invaluable resources an internet connection provides. This innovative program offered nearly 30,000 low-income single-parent families access to TELUS Internet 25 and 300 GB of data for only $9.95 per month. The federal Connecting Families initiative enables TELUS to extend Internet for Good to even more families across B.C., Alberta and Quebec who now qualify if they receive the Canada Child Tax Benefit.
“Nearly half of Canadian families living in poverty do not have access to the Internet – a vital service that is often taken for granted as accessible for all. As part of our long-standing commitment to putting our customers and communities first, the TELUS team is leveraging our technology in combination with our culture of giving, to bridge social, economic and geographic digital divides,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS. “Through programs like TELUS Internet for Good, we are leading the way in connecting at-risk Canadians to the tools and opportunities they need to realize their full potential. We are pleased to join the Government of Canada, our industry colleagues and not-for-profit partners to create Connecting Families and help more Canadians thrive in our dynamic digital society.”
TELUS is also supporting youth transitioning out of Foster Care through TELUS Mobility for GoodTM. The program launched in 2017 in collaboration with the provincial government of British Columbia, and recently expanded to Quebec and in Ontario in partnership with the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada (CAFC). The TELUS Mobility for Good program provides vulnerable youth with a free smartphone and plan for two years, enabling them to stay connected with friends and potential employers, and helping to prevent social isolation as they transition to independent living. TELUS and CAFC will expand this critical program to even more youth in the near future. https://www.telus.com/en/about/news-and-events/media-releases/youth-transitioning-out-of-foster-care-will-receive-free-smartphone-plans-from-telus
TELUS Internet for Good and Mobility for Good are complemented by TELUS Wise, a free program that offers workshops and educational content to help Canadians stay safe online. TELUS recently launched the TELUS Wise Digital Pledge, which encourages all Canadians to take an active role in making the Internet safer for everyone as part of a nationwide #EndBullying campaign. https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/06/07/1518565/0/en/Connecting-Families-Internet-service-for-low-income-Canadian-families.html
... the initiative brings together seven Internet Service Providers (ISPs) across the country - Bell, Cogeco, Rogers, SaskTel, Shaw, TELUS and Videotron - that are partnering with the Government of Canada to offer low-cost service to eligible households. Connecting Families is set to run until 2022 and CFSC will develop a secure online portal that will enable eligible low-income Canadian families to access the $10 per month high speed Internet service from participating Internet Service Providers while protecting their privacy. Up to 50,000 computers will also be made available to eligible families through the Computers for Schools program.
The initiative was designed to connect low income families to the Internet. As such, Canadian families that currently receive the maximum Child Care Benefit (CCB) are eligible for this initiative. Eligible households will have access to residential wireline Internet service for $10 per month, with no less than 10 Mbps download speeds (or the fastest available) and no less than 100GB of data usage each, with no equipment or installation fees applied. .

[BC] Anyone had problems with the T3200M?
I got my fibre service hooked up yesterday but the internet has been very fast but intermittent.
Wireless will work for a while but then it will just randomly crap out. When I go to my desktop internet doesn't work there either. I found disabling ipv6 makes it last longer but it will still eventually crap out.
The lights (internet & wifi) stay on/lit during this whole time. Resetting the T3200M makes it come back and it'll be OK for a while.
I've read about the firmware update requiring a factory reset, so I've done that thinking the firmware probably updated. However, it worked about 1.5 hours and just a few minutes ago I had to reset it again.
The firmware shown is 31.164L.08, is that the most current? Anyone else have tips before I call in to Telus?

Will Telus match the new 300 plan from SHAW
Would like to hear from any Telus insiders if there are any plans to match the new 300/20 plan Shaw is offering.
Shaw offer:

Link to this topic discussed in the Shaw section:

If not, are there at least any updates on the 250/250 availability to other areas, particularly Calgary in my case?
Thanks.

Sales rep who knocks on door or loayalty?
Been with telus for 12 years, NET only, and they given me good discounts so far which expire in AUG
They just finished the PureFibre setup and after speaking to Loyalty, they said it would begin just at end of July. I am currently on 75-100 on copper with unlimited and paying $57 after taxes and my point was to extend that until Fire comes through
The loyalty will call me at end of July if it all goes as planned, now with Shaws new offer and Telus Fibre pricing - is it better to wait for Sales reps? as I believe I have heard they can offer better discounts since this is new fibre service or better play the old customer + shaw offer thing with loyalty?

TELUS Offers 300/300 on the heals of Shaw - No Gigabit in Cranbrook
TELUS is offering 300/300 now that Shaw just released their 300mbit service. Even though the network in Cranbrook is perfectly capable of gigabit speeds, TELUS still refuses to offer the plan in this City while all other communities immediately around us have had it available for a year already. One can only hope that TELUS will start offering it very soon.

Upgrading to Fibre, Questions about Gigabit Switch
Hi all,
My building will be getting Fibre installed soon and I have Internet as well as Optik TV with Telus. I currently have DSL with my T3200M running in Bridge Mode to my own router (TP-Link Archer C7) with just one Optik TV box connected to the T3200M, and all my other devices connected to the TP-Link router.
My problem: Once I have Fibre installed, can I continue to use bridge mode from Fibre ONT -> T3200M (Bridge mode?) -> Optik TV box ???
-> TP-Link router ???
Or is this setup impossible/not optimal once Fibre is installed (if the T3200M cannot act as bridge mode from Fibre ONT?) so I should buy a Gigabit Switch to put between the Fibre ONT and T3200M + TP-Link router?
Sorry if I seem like a noob, but if I should purchase a Gigabit Switch can anyone recommend me one that is inexpensive but decent, since I don't need advanced features.
(I heard that Telus supplied a Gigabit Switch to customers for free in the past? Not sure if this is true?)
Thanks!

Telus question regarding DSL speeds
Was just on the line to loyalty and retention trying to negotiate new prices for the next year and I mentioned that I wanted to drop the tv and bump up my internet to 75 (which online says my building can do 75) Yet I was told that if I dropped the tv package I would only be eligible for internet 50 and not 75 due to them needing the tv connection in order to deliver the full speed at 75. Huh? Does that make any sense to any of those who know more about this stuff than a senior like myself?
fwiw, my present line rate on an actiontec v1000 is 71,051Kbps down and the attainable rate shows as 74,525 Kbps down with upstream at 12,288 Kbps up and attainable at 31,402 Kbps up.
Thanks

[AB] System automatically downgrading Internet 100 users to 75??
Anyone else with bonded lines experiencing this with Telus?
4 months ago I upgraded to Internet 100 from 50 and all was good.
Then this week I was automatically 'downgraded' to Internet 75 without any notice (I checked all the notes on my bills. Nothing was said) and the bill amount is the same as internet 100.
The reps I talked to said that the system is downgrading everyone to 75 on VDSL ports as their systems cannot handle everyone being on 100 or greater on copper. Is this at all true? I'm slightly confused. I thought Telus had one of the best systems in western Canada?
If someone has any info can you please shine some light on this.
Thank you

Fast forward - What will happen after 1gpbs is standard everywhere?
I've been pondering the question, What will come/happen once 100% of the population has access to gigabit Fiber, what will come after that? 5G Wireless will be everywhere, 802.11ax will be in the rear view mirror. I am looking at 2025-2028. Will Fiber speeds increase to the 2.5gbps standard that was rectified a few years back?
How will ISP's compete and how long will we be plautoed at 1gbs residential? I know business aready are getting symmetrical 10gbps connections.
I can see new stuff like uncompressed 4-8K video being the norm and 1gbps being too slow for say. family of 4 with teens.

I want to add internet services to my optik tv subscription.
I've had Shaw cable internet and TV for many years but changed a couple of years ago to get better internet speeds through dsl. Last year Telus installed fibre to my house so I ordered Optik TV as a "residential service" while keeping my internet on dsl as it was billed to my home based business. Because I need more speed I called and asked if they could activate internet through the fibre connection and deactivate my dsl connection but I was told because the fibre is a residential service if they activate internet through it I will lose TV channels. I thought fibre had huge capability and I've never heard this before. Has anyone else run into this? Also, they gave me an Actiontec T1200h when they installed the fibre connection and I use it to wirelessly connect to my main tv's optik box. The manual doesn't mention anything about fibre just dsl. Can anyone explain this to me, I am a bit confused.
