T3200m slowing down after few hours?

$

Recently upgraded to 100 MB service via dual copper ; was given a T3200m. My original router (Cisco) plugged into port 1 with bridge mode. Service was great first week or so... then this week, its just terrible at times. Huge delays... even pinging upstream default gateway 200+ ms at times. See attached graph - flat area is when I'm running on old router, huge spikes are when I'm running via T3200m. When the slowdowns happen, the web interface on the T3200M stops responding.. Anyone have much experience with the T3200m? I did notice the log inside seems to not be working... its almost like it has QoS or is inspecting traffic? The pain to call telus support... what are the chances of the box failing? I already tried factory reset no change.

[BC] Streaming to Twitch causes internet disconnection on all devices

This might be a long read but I appreciate anybody that could help me out. Just for a bit of back story, I've been streaming on Twitch.tv for the past 2 years with no major problems, aside from software or computer ones. But roughly 2-3 months ago, around August, I've been getting these weird hiccups from anywhere between 30 minutes into the stream or 3 hours in (most are withing an hour). When the hiccups happen, I start dropping frames and then eventually the software disconnects. I understand if the software somehow had a malfunction or the network stability wasn't there but I just straight up lose connection to the internet. But I've noticed that it's not just my streaming computer (connected through the Ethernet) that loses it. I could be playing online on my ps4 (wireless) and it loses connection at the same time. My phone switches from Wifi to Data and the same thing to other devices (have tested it with 2 wireless laptops and another desktop computer connected through the ethernet). How I tested this is by pinging google through the cmd function on the computers. A stable ping and read every second, and then blocks of 'Request Timed Out' (images attatched) on all the computers, at the same time as the hiccup, aside from the obvious of not being able to browse the internet. The hiccup usually lasts anywhere between 5-30 seconds of down time. And after that, the devices function as if nothing ever happened. My computer never had major changes to it's drivers or anything deep within it. Double checked any settings or other softwares that could be affecting it, cpu/ram/disk usage all more than good to go. I've tried contacting the OBS admins/technicians (The software I use to stream) and sent them every log file I could find. These hiccups don't necessarily crash OBS so there is no crash log or error that pops up. It literally just loses connection until the hiccups over for it to reconnect. With every detail I could provide, the admins have reassured me that this was a network issue out of their hands after testing with different versions, quality settings, ingest servers, etc. If anybody knows a thing or two about streaming, I've already done a test to see which ingest servers are the most compatible for my location. Full 100% on San Francisco, Seattle, and LA servers. All of them have given me hiccups. Next, I've tried contacting my ISP, Telus. I've been on Internet 50 for a good number of years and haven't changed even now. More than confident that the speed is capable for what I'm attempting. But just for tests, changing the amount of data I upload in the software didn't seem to help either. Whenever these hiccups occur, it never gets detected by their troubleshooting protocols. I've had the past 5 days with at least 3-9 hiccups each day and the customer service reps say there's nothing wrong with the modem, nothing in the past 24 hours of the modem's history or even in the past 30 days with the exception of a manual reset. The manual reset was when I called in a senior technician to replace the modem from a T2200H to the recent T3200M. I was hoping the T2200h was getting faulty because I was getting some bufferbloats on my speed test. The T3200M definitely helped lower the bufferbloating but it didn't fix the hiccups. Everytime I do a speedtest though on various sites, they're all reading strong and what I should be getting, even during a stream. The technician also ran some tests and said there was nothing abnormal so he leaned towards Twitch.tv being the issues, like the servers being over populated and stuff like that. The first day after the change was fine but the hiccup occurred again on the next attempt to stream. Called the customer services again immediately when it occured but I'm told there's nothing on their side. I'm just thinking how this is possible? I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this field of work but I can't wrap my head around the modem or something on the ISP's side that's not at fault. If I'm streaming to Twitch, and there's a hiccup that causes all the devices in the house to simultaneously lose connection, would that not be modem/ISP? There's a chance it might not be but I'm running low on options. Checked the modem settings, played with dns, firewall exceptions, etc. but nothing ever changed. The hiccups seemed more frequent during a 2-6pm PST time period but I've had tests running late in the night/morning with a hiccup or two. If Telus or Twitch were too saturated during the day then I understand but never have I had this problem in the past 2 years. 100% confident I am not using up all the bandwidth as I'm only sending 2-2.5 mb/s. Contacting Twitch isn't the easiest thing either because from their side it sounds like I'm having software or ISP issues. And contacting Telus, they'll tell me it's the software or Twitch. An endless Bermuda Triangle. I just need to know who to contact and how to bypass all the troubleshooting 'have you turn off the modem and turn it back on' steps. I've also tried seeing if peer 2 peer games were causing the issue, as the networks can be more finicky then dedicated servers, but the choice in game and it's connection type didn't seem to make a difference as sometimes I'm just browsing through the internet with the stream on a test and a hiccup occurs. I just don't know what major changes could have been made around the beginning of August for me to consistently drop every stream. A long read, I know. But I really would like some help cause I've been working on this ever since August and I've just about tried everything on my end. If there absolutely is nothing I could do, then there's nothing I could do. Thank you to everyone patient enough to read this.

[ALL] Waiting for my PIK TV order, nothing by problems

I ordered PIK TV online on Oct25 (got an email with order #) and waited. Today, I decided to chat with Telus about my order but he could not do anything and asked me to call 1-855-443-6611. Lo and behold, I got connected to someone oversea who told me that I can not order PIK TV unless I subscribe to Optick tv first but I told her that subscribing to PIK tv has nothing to do with Optic TV and told her to transfer my call to someone here in Canada and she put me on hold forever. Does anybody here in the forum works for Telus and could help me. Thanks

Telus ipv6 broken?

(I posted this on the Telus forum and it was removed.) I signed up for fibre in July, and I was having strange networking issues (as in: sites would take 10-20 seconds to start loading.) I noticed one morning that while sometimes dns on ipv6 appeared to work it wouldn't actually be able to connect via ipv6. The connection would try a couple times, fail, then fall back to ipv4 which always worked. I saw this behaviour when running rsync, then I realized sometimes ipv6 dns would fail and eventually timeout before using ipv4 as well. I got around this by disabling ipv6 support in my devices, but my phone and tablet still had issues, so I disabled ipv6 in the modem (T3200m). I've had no issues at all since then. However, someone else recently upgraded to fibre and the Telus said "your PC is broken" and so they brought it to my house, and the Windows event log is filled with dns lookup failures. Of course, the computer had no problems here at my house as I have ipv6 completely disabled. Does anyone else have this problem? Back then I didn't want to try to talk to the Telus technical support and go through the rebooting modem BS (protip: it doesn't help to reset the modem) and don't want to spend hours talking to someone who has no clue what my problem actually is.

T3200M and 2nd IP

I have a T3200M modem and have set port 1 to bridge mode. I connected port 1 to a standalone pc and it now receives a 2nd ip from Telus. From that bridged pc I can access the internet etc. From my home network that is connected to the T3200M I can not ssh into the bridged pc but I can when I try to access it from the outside the lan. I am guessing I need to set some firewall rule or DMZ or? Here is a brief description of my setup using made up IP addresses. Telus T3200M has ip of 154.00.00.01 wired pc ip -192.168.1.1 laptop ip - 19.168.1.05 Bridge port ip - 154.00.00.03 Any ideas? I hope I explained that correctly.

Thanks in advance.

[BC] Anyone had problems with the T3200M?

I got my fibre service hooked up yesterday but the internet has been very fast but intermittent. Wireless will work for a while but then it will just randomly crap out. When I go to my desktop internet doesn't work there either. I found disabling ipv6 makes it last longer but it will still eventually crap out. The lights (internet & wifi) stay on/lit during this whole time. Resetting the T3200M makes it come back and it'll be OK for a while. I've read about the firmware update requiring a factory reset, so I've done that thinking the firmware probably updated. However, it worked about 1.5 hours and just a few minutes ago I had to reset it again. The firmware shown is 31.164L.08, is that the most current? Anyone else have tips before I call in to Telus?

Setting up a TELUS account with Mozilla Thunderbird (need help)

Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Hello, I am having trouble configuring the "Mozilla Thunderbird" client with TELUS (Canada / Quebec). With the Windows Live Mail 2012 or Outlook 2016 client, everything works fine. However, I want to use Mozilla Thunderbird. Here is the configuration with Outlook 2016: User Information Your Name: toto Email Address: toto@globetrotter.net Server Information Account Type: POP3 Incoming mail server: pop.globetrotter.net Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.globetrotter.net Logon Information User Name: toto@globetrotter.net Password: ******** Remember password: Check Require logon using Secure Password Authentication: Uncheck More Settings General Mail Account: toto@globetrotter.net Other fields are empty Outgoing Server My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Check Use same settings as my incoming mail server: Check Other fields are empty Advanced Server Ports Numbers Incoming server (POP3): 110 This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): uncheck Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 Use the following type of encrypted connection: None With Mozilla Thunderbird, the incoming server is IMAP and I cannot change it. He chooses imap.globetrotter.net Mozilla Thunderbird server settings Server Name: imap.globetrotter.net Port: 143 Username: toto Security setting Security of the connection: None Authentication method: Password, unsecured transmission Outgoing server (SMTP) Server name: smtp.globetrotter.net Port: 587 Username: toto Authentication method: Password, unsecured transmission Connection security: None With TELUS, it is POP3 and I cannot change this option for IMAP using Outlook 2016 because the option is written in gray and is inaccessible. One of my friends uses Mozilla Thunderbird on one of his computers with TELUS without problems. However, when he wants to install it on his other machine nothing to do. Yet we checked the Thunderbird settings and they are identical. I know we can export profiles but I want to be able to set up a new TELUS IMAP account with Mozilla Thunderbird. The following messages appear depending on what I tried: • Authentication failed - The identification on the imap.globetrotter.net server failed. • The configuration cannot be verified - an error for the username or password? • Thunderbird could not find the settings for your mail account. I would like you to help me. Thank You

Anyone noticing problems with IPv6-test.com?

I've always had good luck using ipv6-test.com to verify everything is working. Normally, I get 20/20 and both the ping test and speed test work well. I had to open up icmp echo-request on the firewall for ipv4 and ipv6 and also on the client windows 10 pc for ipv6. With those firewall rules passing the echo requests, ipv6-test.com normally works perfectly, reliably passing all of the tests. Lately, I've noticed some unreliable results. Often, the ipv6 icmp test says filtered or not tested. It occasionally passes, so I know it's not being filtered by the firewalls. Sometimes it says ipv6 is unsupported, which is completely wrong. Of the three DNS tests, often one or more will randomly fail. If I refresh, the results will change. I have two completely separate routed networks, each with their own addresses, in addition to to the modem. The results are similar on both of my networks, but when I have a vpn running, it seems to work properly. Possibly because it's bypassing Telus infrastructure. I'm wondering if any other Telus users are noticing this. Note, I'm not noticing any problems with test-ipv6.com, which is completely separate site. Maybe there are issues with the routing to ipv6-test.com.

Base rate is $80 bundled, $83 unbundled. 75 down, 15 up, 550gb cap. Nothing will be on telus.com for a few weeks but it can be ordered now. Internet 100 was suspended about a month ago and I'm not sure about its future. Good news for those who wanted faster speeds but didn't qualify for 100.

Fiber "FIFA" (?) vs Falcon (?)

So this is really 4th hand information I'm trying to make sense of. A mother of my kid's friend overheard a discussion between her husband and his friend, who is a Telus technician of some sort. I overhear this mother chatting to someone else, recalling the conversation she thinks she heard. So... granted... this is really weak "information" and I'm not trying to report anything, but rather i'm hoping this triggers something that someone could perhaps shed some light on. Doubtful, but Googling got me nowhere. The gist is that we're currently on "FIFA" ("not the soccer thing", she says) and paying higher rates for Fiber, but in "3 to 4 months" they'll be switching to "Falcon", and supposedly "rates will be dropping across the board for everyone". She said FIFA was an acronym that started with Fiber and ended with Association, but she couldn't remember the rest. She specifically says the Telus guy said this is inside stuff that's not supposed to get out, "so don't tell anyone". Does that ring a bell for anyone? The only reason I don't think it is total BS, is why would a couple of soccer mom's be talking about Fiber infrastructure unless it really was something she heard? It came up because the other was complaining about a Telus door-to-door salesman. Also, the ONLY fruit I got from Google was a reference to "Project Falcon" in Vancouver, which is Telus' fiber infrastructure upgrades in that area. But it was unclear if that's upgrading to what all Telus Fiber customers already have, or if it is indeed something even better.

30% Decrease in DL & UL Speeds on TELUS Fibre since late Nov. 2017

Long time lurker on these forums, first time poster. Huge thank you to many of you for all the time and Q&A you put into this place. It's helped me SO many times! I have had TELUS Fibre internet for just over 2 years. Year 1 had me on the 100x20 package as that was all that was available, but Year 2 and now I have been on 150x150. I am also part of the Sam Knows & the CRTC Broadband Measurement Project and it would appear my speeds have fallen an average of 30% in the past 3 weeks. My bill certainly hasn't dropped 30% either. I have analyzed nearly everything on my end, restarted my wifi router, made sure it's on the least congested 5GHz channel, do NOT use 2.4GHz, and looked at my SamKnows analysis, whose "box" is plugged directly into the TELUS Modem via ethernet for the readings. Can anyone explain this sudden decrease? Or anyone else experienced this with TELUS over the last few weeks? I am located in the South Surrey (Morgan Heights) area as well where a very large fibre build-out has taken place over the last year. I've attached my screen shots from Sam Knows as an analysis and posted this on the TELUS neighbourhood forums as well. Thanks everyone :)

Since I don't use the Telus Actiontec Modem/Router, those who have a Telus Actiontec can test it yourself. By logging into your My Telus Account, then to Internet Tab, there is now a new tab called Wi-Fi. Clicking on Wi-Fi, The webpage will then make contact with your Telus supplied Actiontec unit. Will give an error when using your own equipment. You can use it to adjust the Wifi (network name and or password) on the Telus supplied Modem/Router. https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/change-your-wifi-networks-name-and-password These article explains how to change your Wi-Fi network name and password using your TELUS My Account profile. If not seeing your dual networks (2.4Ghz / 5Ghz), Telus Smart Wifi (T3200M) combines both 2.4/5Ghz networks to improve speeds. https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/enable-smart-wifi-on-your-advanced-wifi-modem

Hi all My 2 new 4k receivers work great, what a lovely upgrade over old beaters I had from 2013. However, my 4K PVR is not doing so well. It's connected to a Yamaha RX-V379BL receiver which is HDCP 2.2 compatible. However, I am getting a few problems: 1) Occasional horizontal grey lines, it looks like a garbly analog antenna signal 2) Scratchy audio 3) I just noticed the 4k channels say that our channel feeds are all in use, but the other 2 digital boxes are turned off I did not have these issues on the old 1080p PVR. Has anyone had these problems?
