For the past few years we have been calling Telus to upgrade our Internet from 6Mbps to 50Mbps since this service is available in the area (Cold Lake). The last time we called Telus they sent down a technician to check the lines. My neighbour currently has the 50Mbps service from Telus and the technician confirmed that several individuals on the same DSLAM have 50Mbps. The tech informed us that there are a large number of ports available and that he could upgrade us to 50Mbps. After trying to get it working for 2 days both the tech and us were told by Telus that they did not want to activate the available ports. Apparently no one in Telus seems to know who to talk to get this problem resolved. We tried talking with managers and retention and its the same BS all the time they just say they cant do anything about it.
If they cannot upgrade our service to 50Mbps in the very near future we will be switching over to EastLink.
On a side note its also really strange that all the speed tests we have done always show that our ISP is Bell Aliant and not Telus. This is strange since Bell only offers commercial internet in the area.
