there has to be a way to put this thing into Bridge mode.
I just moved from Shaw. I had their unit in bridge mode so that I could use my own network equipment on the LAN side. When I got talked/bribed into switching to Telus, I never thought this would be an issue. When the tech got here I asked him to put it into bridge mode and he said I had to talk to tech support. I did that and they say the vendor (actiontec) doesn't support it. Huh??
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand and one times but can someone give me the Coles Notes version so I can get working again? How in the world do I use my own network equipment with Telus? Do I need a different router/modem (they gave me an Actiontec V1000H with firmware 31.121L.13) or is there a way to "hack" this unit (root access? I see in the javascript it keeps asking for "user_id=3" for what I believe is a hidden option for bridging)? Or do I just give up and go back to Shaw??
I searched with Google and came up with several outdated threads and blogs suggesting a root username/password that obviously no longer works.
