Comments posted here have raised some questions in my mind about whether I can use Telus at all, particularly as to whether I can have the Telus-supplied modem+router bridged so that it functions as a simple modem. I also need to make sure that I can get 2 IP addresses, and that none of the ports I need are blocked, although I don't think either of those will be a problem.
I'm not sure I can get reliable answers from Telus without actually trying it, so my question is, if I sign up for a contract with Telus, can I cancel the contract if it turns out that the answers I have received are not correct and the service won't meet my needs? Is there something like a 1-week trial period?
Also, I see that Telus is offering a $100 credit if I let them cancel my service with Shaw instead of doing it myself. What's the reason for that? Is it a timing thing so they can push the switchover through quickly before people have a chance to change their mind, or maybe just that they don't want potential switching customers to have a chance to talk to the Shaw retentions dept.?
