Wanted to put this out for a 2nd opinon. I'm trying to get Teksavvy DSL via an existing
Telus land line, however Teksavvy service has been nonfunctional since Telus did the
initial install Feb 21st. The residence is an apartment-style condo with a phone room in
the basement, and from what I can tell Telus did send someone into the basement phone
room to activate the DSL service. In doing so, they broke my phone line -- ie. ringing to
the Telus land line # got a ring tone however the actual handset in my unit reported
"no line" and had no dialtone.
One callout to Telus later got the phoneline restored , but I never did get an explanation
of HOW the phone service was broken like that, nor has Teksavvy internet worked since.
Now as of this month, Telus insists DSL is working and Teksavvy is pointing at a wiring
issue. Talking with an inside source familiar with such setups may have identified what
needs to be done to fix it, but what needs to be done has "Anybody But Me" written all over
it -- namely, WHO needs to check and run the cabling between the basement phone room
and my actual unit. The person that restored my phone service originally and my inside
source advised that Telus would normally handle such wiring if it were a Telus install,
but as this is 3rd party thought Telus wouldn't touch something like this with a ten foot pole.
So Question : what is Telus' Standard Operating Procedure / Policy for making sure internal
wiring is good for 3rd party providers such as this? Are they, as my inside source advised,
going to go handsoff on this (and from a customer standpoint do a half-baked install job), or
does someone from Telus or contracted by Telus come to the basement phone room to run
the proper wiring between the basement phone room and my actual unit?
Regards
