Does Telus still want the old modems back?

Hey! Same topic title I used back in 2014!! And yes, I type waaaaaay too much. A million years ago, I started with a D-Link 300g and Internet "Lite" 2009 Dec 07 - Upgraded to Siemens SE567 and 6Mb "High Speed" 2015 June 18 - Received ZyXel VSG1432 as "Free modem upgrade" 2015 July 18 - Received Actiontec V1000h too, for some reason. I kept meaning to pick one (they both worked, couldn't decide which one worked "better"), and send the other one back, but I never got around to it. I've been usng the ZyXel ever since. 2022 April 11 - Cancelled Telus Internet. Price just keeps going up. Switched to TPIA cable, double the speed, 1/3 the price, and I refuse to do the yearly beg/plead/threaten song and dance for a "better deal". Telus rep said they'd send a couple of e-mails: a confirmation of when the service will be terminated (end of this week), and details on how to send back the hardware. This is where it gets weird... --------- Hi XXXX, Our records show that you recently cancelled or changed your services and that you have TELUS equipment that needs to be returned to us. Returning these items to TELUS ensures that they can be reused, and reduces landfill waste. **** snip-snip, and reformatted: **** Charges may be incurred if the following equipment is not returned before June 15, 2022: Equipment - High Speed wireless gateway - Siemens SE567 Serial Number - S110Y41032321 *** That's the ZyXel's number *** Charge if not returned - $0.00 2. Once your box is packed, click here to print out the TELUS-supplied return waybill. Once printed out, affix the waybill to the box. This step is important because: * The TELUS waybill is linked to your account and helps us verify that you returned the equipment --------- Sooooooo........ send back the SE567 and call it a day? Is Telus and the waybill expecting a SE567, or the ZyXel that a previous rep said (while diagnosing a 4-day outage) was "grandfather" registered to the account, or the v1000h that nobody seems to know about? Or are they just going to scrap them anyway, based on the $0.00 charge? I wouldn't mind keeping one of the newer ones *IF* they can be used as a stand-alone router with the single-port cable modem. That way I can plug in another computer for testing, or maybe connect to Wi-Fi with my ancient no-data-plan phone, also for testing. ( I still have the original boxes and accessories for all 3 of them) Or should I "Do The Right Thing", call in to get more waybills, and "Buy your own damn router ya cheap bugger!"? :D
