Due to an extremely aggravating series of events, I'm currently using an sfp plugged into a T3200M in bridgemode which then feeds my router, this is with 1.5gbps service. The SFP is extremely hot to the touch, and my connection keeps dropping every few seconds. It takes ~20s to establish a tcp connection, and speed tests just fail.
So, i'm looking to replace the modem with a media converter, I read this: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32882929-PureFibre-SFP-to-Copper-Media-Converter-s which doesn't sound promising but i'm going to try anyway since I can just fall back to what telus has setup.
My question though is once I have the media converter, do i need to tag my traffic with vlan 35 and set pppoe credentials? I don't have tv or phone service, so i don't care if that wouldn't work in this setup.
