The carrier fibre is now past my very rural house...Starlink and my Ubiquiti AirMax radios are soon to be put to bed (well...in a few months...). So I'm planning and trying to understand what options I have.
I don't really want Telus' Actiontec and I'm trying to figure out how (and if) OptikTV fits into the deal.
If I want the 1.5/1.5 option, then I need to run SFP directly to my edge, correct? And that edge can either be a switch or a router with SFP that supports > GB connections. (Ubiquiti UDMP or USG-4Pro if they've resolved their issues)
If I don't care about 1.5, then I can use standard ethernet, but that either needs to go from Actiontec > switch/router or, as above, via SFP but then ethernet is fine outbound because it's "just" a GB system.
But, it also seems that a lot of routers with SFP ports don't play nice with Optik, then what do I do?
What I also don't understand is how Optik is distributed? Ethernet? Coax?
(I've lived for 8 years here with Bell satellite and a home-brew 25/15 AirMax PtP radios relaying internet to me I'm totally out of the loop with fibre -- it's a whole new world!)
