Last week Telus announced a big project to put PureFibre and 5G in 90% of Prince George by 2022.
Well, I see them start already in my neighbourhood. Earlier in the week I seen big coils of black cable hanging off poles down my main feeder road and I thought it was kinda early right after the announcement. Today they were all out with the big trucks and booms and pulled most of this cable down the poles. I verified the truck had a Telus PureFibre sign/logo on the side of it, so it is 100% being done right now in my area.
I am up in a neighbourhood on the Hart Highway called Valleyview. There is a Telus building on my road right off the Highway so it makes sense they start there and go outwards.
I checked my address on Telus' site and it says it is coming soon and should be available in a few weeks. I completed the online permission form allowing them to install on my properly. A friend checked his, who is across the highway behind the Hart Mall, and it says the same thing however he sees no installation activity like I am. Other people I know who live downtown it says it is not available yet.
All services are overhead wiring here in my neighbourhood, it seems that I am lucky and one of the first neighbourhoods that will get this installed.
Anyone have any idea how long this will take based on what they I see them doing? I am sorta excited but it could also just be them putting the infrastructure all over the place and not actually install for many months, even years - I hope not.
