I'm on 950Gbit Fibre Internet (previously on the 150Gbit plan) using a Synology RT2600ac router instead of the Actiontec router provided by Telus. It generally works quite well but there have been a few instances in the past where it would just lose internet connectivity out of the blue -- and unplugging the plugging the WAN cable (from the ONT) restored the Internet connection.... but only for 5 minutes! If I switched back to the Actiontec router, it would work fine - so I thought it was a problem with the Synology router. I opened trouble tickets with Synology (on several occasions) but never got anywhere with them. Strangely, after a few days I would try again and it would be back to working with the Synology router.
Now, a few days ago - I started having the same problem again! Only this time my Internet connection lasts for a full 10 minutes before going away. Unplug/plug the WAN cable and 10 more minutes!
After much Googling, I finally found a thread that I think explains what's going on - and I think it's because Telus is using an extremely short 10 minute DHCP lease time when issuing an IP address to the router. Here's the explanation:

I've confirmed by looking at the admin page on the Actiontec that it's only getting a 10 minute lease. Now - how do I resolve this with Telus? I really don't want to sit on hold for hours, digging through several levels of support until (maybe) finding someone who knows how to fix this. Is there anyone on this forum who might have access (or know who to talk to at Telus)? I can't be the only one running into problems with this!
Thanks!
