TELUS has installed a broadband router in my garage , as well as connected 2 WIFI range extenders in my house.
I now have THREE separate WIFI SSID's I need to be aware of.
GARAGE-5G
LIVINGROOM-5G
UPSTAIRS-5G
..at first, I thought that was a great setup, seeing that I could get coverage at all corners of the house. HOWEVER, i realize now that the coverage is not working, that I am constantly having to manually reconnect to another SSID as I move around the house in my phone.
- I realize that getting a range extender (ie. http://ca.dlink.com/products/access-points-range-extenders-and-bridges/ac2600-dual-band-wi-fi-range-extender-dap-1860/) wouldnt' help me.. that simply adds yet another WIFI SSID to my house that I don't need.
- would I wifi repeater work? I understand that it simply repeats the wifi signal, at the cost of decreased bandwidth/speed/latency. true?
- i could invest in a mesh wireless wifi network like eero.
- I'm considering buying a ubiquiti unifi wireless access point instead.. that seems more professional grade and has better coverage than most consumer routers. however, it lists the 'range' as 122M. I can't find any specs in the telus actiontec WCB3000N manual that states it's actual range:
http://static.telus.com/common/cms/files/get-help/tv/User_Guide_WCB3000N.pdf
does anybody have any clue on the WCB3000N's range, or other advice on how to get whole home wifi coverage under one single SSID?
