I'm in the country. I get my internet through a router with SIM card. There are numerous towers around. I'm curious if certain towers are throttled? Here's why I ask the question. When I get a LTE signal of around -115 dB, I get downloads of 10 to 15 Mbps. When I get a LTE signal of -90 dB, I get downloads of 3 to 8 Mbps. It is exact opposite of what I expected. And it is repeatable. Day after day. I suspect my modem is jumping between cell towers (which explains the signal strength changes). But I don't know how to verify this. Does anyone have a possible explanation for my observations? I'm wondering if I bought a direction antenna if I could somehow force my router to connect to this tower with the weaker signal but better download speed. I'm sure my theories are wrong, so hopefully someone can set me straight! Is there any way for me to diagnose this? Router is a B890. Thank you in advance.
