2nd V1000h - use as a router only?

Hi, So we've ended up with a second Actiontec v1000h and would like to use the older one as a router only. I am imagining it isn't just as simple as LAN to LAN port from the new one to the old one. I also have an old D-Link router. I think I just turned off DCHP and gave it a 192.168.1.XYZ number and it streamed our set-top Telus box and NAS. We no longer have Optik either. Thank you.
