About VoLTE
VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is the next evolution in wireless calling. It allows customers with a compatible phone to place and receive calls over the TELUS LTE network instead of the HSPA network.
There are multiple benefits to this including:
Increased availability of HD Voice
Simultaneous use of voice and LTE data
Faster call set-up
Previously, data was carried over LTE when you were not on a voice call. If you were on a voice call, then your data was transmitted using the slower 3G speeds. Now, with VoLTE, your data will be carried over LTE even when youre on a voice call.
Additional Information:
VoLTE services are currently available in Lower Mainland British Columbia. Stay tuned, we will be adding more locations in the future
Currently VoLTE is available on the following devices;
Samsung S6
LG G4
Note: More devices will be added in the near future.
VoLTE is only available, where enabled, within the TELUS LTE network. Your voice calls will still work over HSPA while youre traveling
If you are not on the TELUS LTE network, or you move to an area not on the TELUS LTE network then your call will be seamlessly carried over the TELUS HSPA network
There are no additional fees for using the VoLTE service and does not use any of your allotted data
Currently VoLTE does not support video calling.

...voice calls will be seamlessly transitioned to HSPA networks when travelling outside of LTE coverage, and also there are no fees associated with VoLTE and the service does not consume any data.
...As of now, VoLTE on the TELUS network is limited to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4 smartphones.
....TELUS explained they will continue to expand VoLTE coverage and our list of compatible devices through 2016. http://www.androidcentral.com/telus-begins-volte-pilot-british-columbia-select-android-phones
Telus, Canada's second-largest wireless provider, has launched Voice Over LTE, or VoLTE, as a pilot in a small area of the British Columbia Lower Mainland before rolling it out to the rest of the country.
....As with VoLTE on both Rogers and Bell, Telus does not deduct the data consumed for a VoLTE call from a customer's monthly bandwidth. Reminder that Telus also still has the closed beta of 'Telus Extend' to shunt calls to wifi, via an app.
