Alright let's see if i can explain this, basically i had been trying to access NIN.com an official band website for nine inch nails for the past few weeks to no avail. (ever since at least late February, earlier than that and it was working just fine)
I know that the site is still online and functioning because my buddies overseas and stateside can use the site just fine and there's no reason it should be geoblocked, I can also get to it from a U.S. based proxy.
After a process of elimination I have determined that it's not just me or local to my household configuration but others have experienced this same problem on the Telus network. (I posted about this on Facebook and at least two other people with Telus from Alberta said they couldn't access the site, I am unsure if this is only specific to Alberta though)
So i gave Telus a call, the tech can't access the site either but said it's not a problem on their end as far as they can tell, at this point I'm trying to get in contact with the web host because who else am i supposed to talk to about this? Sudjam llc well wouldn't you know it... i can't access their website either so i ran their site through downuptime.net and it showed an error with one of the DNS servers with the address ns3.sudjam.com / 216.193.231.21
Is that the culprit? why is this specific to Telus?
The one thing i hate about doing a lot of this kind of thing is nobody likes to really admit when there's a problem on their end and it's always someone else's fault. All i know is my router isn't blocking any websites, I've tried different IP addresses as well as different DNS addresses as opposed to the ones Telus assigns, Google and OpenDNS? same result. I also tried a TELUSDirect hotspot at 7-11 down the street and i couldn't even load the site from there so clearly this is well beyond anything to do with me.
Needless to say i am stumped, i mostly just want normal access to the site for peace of mind, if anyone knows NIN / Trent Reznor they do tend to surprise their fans every now and then that and i can't even access their store to purchase merch from them directly so there's that.
Thoughts? Appreciate any advice. In the meantime I am waiting on a response from Sudjam via email (i would call but i don't think it's toll free)... I swear if it's some useless automated thing telling me to do everything I've already done once more I will be quite disappointed.
I'll update if i can and maybe they'll have a solution but I'm just curious what others might think at this point.
