I've been having this problem for at least a year, but it is getting pretty extreme now.
At first I would get slowdowns. Speed would drop to 2-3 Mbps during prime time, which I was ok with since it is to be expected.
But in the past few months it has been getting worse and worse. Speed frequently go under 1Mbps. When I ping google.ca, the latency either goes all over the place between 30 and 130ms, or stays above 100 for an extended period of time. Getting a lot of packet loss too.
The thing is, even though my connection is shit most of the time, there would always be 1-2 days in the week where my connection would be almost perfect. I would get above 4Mbps, latency would stay in the 30-40ms range and I would not get any packet loss. After they sent people over to my house 3 times in the last couple of months to replace my modem and cables and realising that the problem isn't inside the house, they sent someone to look at the DSLAM. Since then, there hasn't been a single day where my connection hasn't been complete shit.
I live in a pretty small town, so replacing their equipment is probably a no no. Is there anything else I can do or am I just out of luck until I move?
These results happen at any hour. Early morning, in the afternoon and even in the middle of the night at 2-3am.
