I currently have a 7130 ALU modem, which was originally installed in late 2010. (The optik STBs are on a dlink router. My PCs and other equipment are on a completely separate routed network with a vpn and ipv6 tunnel.) Several times, Telus has told me they wanted to replace the ALU with an actiontec v1000h, but I wouldn't let them, because the ALU has been working well and at least originally, the actiontec didn't support bridging, which I require. I'm considering upgrading to optik 50, which I understand means the ALU will have to go, because I'm pretty sure it won't support 50 mbps and I'm pretty sure the only way they can provide optik 50 at my location is with pair bonding, which requires a t2200h.
Here are my questions:
If I stay with optik 25 and ask Telus to replace the ALU, is there any chance I will get a v1000h or will it be a t1200h?
Is it necessary to have an administrator password to gain access to locked features? If so, is it available? (Mod, I'm not asking for a password.)
Does the t1200h support true bridging (i.e., wan ip address with no NAT)?
If I connect a switch to the bridging port, will each device on the switch get a separate wan ip address?
Does the t1200h support ipv6 and will I get an ipv6 address automatically if I get a t1200h?
If anyone who has upgraded from an ALU to a t1200h or t2200h has any words of wisdom, I'd like to hear them.
