I hate posting about TV-related stuff in a primarily internet-based forum, but it has been crickets on this post over at the TELUS Neighbourhood forum. You guys all seem to be in the know and experts in your field, so I thought I'd present this over here.
I've recently seen articles about this new "Future Home" that TELUS is parading around from city to city; it's in Calgary now. They claim to have an Ultra HD capable service: "Next-generation home entertainment could make heading to the movies a thing of the past when the ultra HD Optik TV experience is brought to life on an awe-inspiring 78 Samsung Curved UHD TV; better yet, while your kids simultaneously stream content on their tablets without interruption." Does anyone know which hardware they'd be using to show this off?
Also, the fibre page at this link (http://www.telus.com/en/ab/internet/fibre/drumheller/learn) claims that the Optik service has "astonishing picture quality... and no stutter, breakup or compression". Do they have two networks for Optik now? One with compression for the copper customers and another without compression for the fibre customers?
