I am currently on the Highspeed 50 plan. For my wired connection, I am getting consistent +52Mbps downstream and +11Mbps upstream, 7ms ping on Speedtest.net. However, my wi-fi speeds are only getting around 30Mbps downstream despite being only 6 feet away from the router (it gets even worse if I move further away). I have tried changing channels and different combinations of settings on the Actiontec router but nothing seems to fix the slow speed. The only time I am getting the true speed is if I am standing 2 feet away from the router. Does anyone know the fix to this problem? Or know of any alternative modem/router?
Its late so I tried the online Telus tech support and it was very poor - the tech got mad because I posted the URL to my speedtest result instead of typing it in the chat screen. Perhaps he was too lazy to copy and paste the URL into the browser? Nonetheless, his first and only solution was to reset the router. I told him that we are going to be disconnected if I reset the router, he then ends the chat session without saying anything. Gotta love those tech support guys who's only solution is to "shut it off and turn it back on" or "just reset the modem".
